Starry Critters. Winner of NASA-sponsored Hubble Gold Stars. A blog for students, teachers and parents to engage in the excitement of space exploration using imagery from NASA's Great Observatories, such as the Hubble Space Telescope. Site uses a customized WordPress template with a Flash embedded format called Zoomify that allows users to explore the image.
Scipedia is a new blog website focusing on a closer look at the science of the near future. The site features a WordPress template that has been stylized with color, logo and content.
Website for Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Website for Harmonic Media - HTML, CSS, Flash
A web mapping project using Zoomify. XML configures hotspots, text for boxes as well as aggregate placement of categories, such as restaurants or hotels.
Website using space-based theme, rotating images or news in the main feature area and news and features below. This could be adapted into a WordPress or Joomla theme.
Hubble Star Cards is another winner of the NASA Hubble TopStars Gold Star. 60 playing cards include large images, a short summary of the image, type of object and basic facts. Many games can be played with this set. Combining the sets introduces a matching game that is fun for all ages.
While this site has been redesigned, this original site design for GeoEye used imagery as the main focus of the page. A Flash-based slideshow kept initial attention while links to other parts of the site were easy to find and navigate.
Space Imaging's Ancient Observatories feature was a heavily trafficked page. The page revolved around NASA's Sun-Earth Day theme of ancient and modern observatories. The Flash site used Zoomify and XML to provide navigation and descriptions of the locations. Users could download a larger version of the image or view pertinent information so they could purchase the image.
Space Imaging's Top Ten IKONOS images of 2004 won Macromedia's prestigious Site of the Day in 2004. The Flash site used Zoomify and XML to provide navigation and descriptions of the locations. Users could download a larger version of the image or view pertinent information so they could purchase the image.
A spin-off of Space Imaging's Top Ten site, the 2006 Winter Olympics Explorer won Macromedia's prestigious Site of the Day in 2006. The site again used Zoomify and XML to provide basic navigation and descriptions of the locations. Also included in this version was an event viewer, RSS feeds to provide news and information. Before the advent of GoogleMaps, my work was using map imagery as an overview map that provided context to the entire venue.
This unique Flash website for Space Imaging provided a quick and accessible way to find imagery over an area of interest. The product could be stylized for different uses, such as ports by region, airport by region, latitude/longitude or address searches. Imagery was draped over a map provided through REST calls. Items could be dragged and dropped into the shopping cart.
